The coffee route

There is no complete certainty about the conditions in which coffee arrived in Colombia. Historical indications say that the Jesuits brought grain seeds to New Granada around 1730, but different versions exist.

Worldwide, Colombia is the leading coffee producer and the largest soft coffee producer in the world. The main coffee importing countries in Colombia are the United States, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands and Sweden.

During the twentieth century coffee was the main product in Colombian commercial activities, registering exports of up to 2,560 bags. Since the 1920’s, Colombia ranked first as a world producer of soft coffee.

The main coffee producer’s departments in Colombia are: Nariño, Norte de Santander, Antioquia, Valle del Cauca, Cundinamarca, Huila, Cauca, Tolima, Caldas, Quindío and Risaralda, the last three known as the Coffee Region. This tour will give you the opportunity to learn more about the history of our country as a coffee producer, in the same way, enjoy the tourist spots located on the route to our welcoming destination.

  • Start 9:00 am
  • Hot springs in Santa Rosa de Cabal
  • Night at Noe’s farm park

Day 5

  • Return to Bogotá
